Opals ~ Making a Red Carpet Comeback!

In all our guesses about what you might see on the Red Carpet this season, opals were not among them… but recently, we’ve seen two statement opal statement pieces and are loving the look.

Busy Philipps wore this stunning Irene Neuwirth necklace to the 2013 SAG Awards.

Super Bowl XLVII and Jewelry

When we talk about jewelry and an event there is usually a red carpet and designer togs and celebrities…

OK, we admit it… there isn’t a red carpet, there aren’t roving reporters asking what designer players and coaches are wearing, and let’s face it, besides Destiny Child’s Kelly Rowland’s huge diamond stud earrings seen during Beyonce’s Half Time performance, there is not a correlation between jewelry and Super Bowl XLVII until after a win and a Super Bowl ring is given to all the winning players.

And Super Bowl rings are something to see… Here’s the ring from Super Bowl XLII where the New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots, 17-14.

But we loved watching it any way ~ the commercials were top notch and seeing the Sandy Hook Children’s Choir and Jennifer Hudson perform America the Beautiful, along with Alicia Keys rendition of our National Anthem, was great entertainment and quite moving.

Wearing Red in Honor of Women’s Heart Health

It’s pretty easy… wear red on the first Friday of February and show your support for women’s heart health.

Does anything better embody the word "healthy and beautiful" than Cate Blanchett in this red Armani Privé gown?

Does anything better embody the word “healthy and beautiful” than Cate Blanchett in this red Armani Privé gown?

Why? The American Hearth Association realized in 2003 that they faced a huge challenge:  heart disease was the number one killer of women each year, but heart health was going largely ignored by most women each year.  So the American Heart Association, along with the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute created National Wear Red Day® to raise awareness of this critical issue, and ask that on the first Friday in February, women and men wear red and  commit themselves to fighting this deadly disease.

At Craig’s, we’ve got a unique way to wear red on the first Friday in February, and everyday:  Roberto Coin jewelry!RobertoCoin_side

Each piece of Robert Coin jewelry has a hidden RED ruby.  An ancient Egyptian legend says that a ruby touching the skin of a woman brings good health and great happiness.

And to us, wearing a hidden red ruby all year,  is a constant reminder to take care of ourselves!

Even diamond earrings can have a hidden ruby!
